Academic Publications

The increasing tasks that are assigned to the Academic Publishing and Press prove the university's interest in this huge facility by developing and enhancing the methods and technology of publishing in this facility. The following are the types of publications that are released by this administration/press:

The Achievements of the Academic Publishing and Press

1.    Books (902 books)

2.    Journal of King Saud University (381 issues)

3.    Symposiums and conferences (75 symposiums)

4.    Research bulletins (286 bulletins)

5.    The university newspaper "Risalah" (840,000 copies a year)

6.    Forms and other types of publications for the university units (4,367,790 copies a year)

Books:

There are two types of books: compiled and translated. The number of books that have been released up to now is 902 as shown in Tables 1 and 2, and Figures 1 and 2.

           Table 3 and Figure 3 show the number of compiled and translated books that are released in different periods.

Journal of King Saud University (JKSU):

           Journal of the College of Science is the oldest journal in King Saud University since the first issue was released in 1389H (1969), followed by Journal of Arts, Journal of Administrative Sciences, and so on. JKSU has undergone many developing stages and its title has been changed many times, and each time the title is changed a new branch of the journal is introduced. There are 9 branches for JKSU, most of them are biannual and the others are annual. Table 4 shows these 9 branches of JKSU; their dates of issue, titles, volumes, number of issues that have been released up to now and their affiliation. The Academic Publishing and Press has uploaded all issue and articles of these 9 branches of JKSU onto the Internet, starting from "Vol. 1, No. 1" up to the last volume and issue. This will allow easy access to these online issues and articles of JKSU. These can be found on the following address: http://www.ksu.edu.sa/printpress/

Other publications:

           Research Centers:

           King Saud University releases around 45 research bulletins per year with an average of 100-150 pages for each bulletin, and 300 copies of these bulletins are printed. Also, the university releases around 300 guidebooks with 30 pages of each guidebook, and 1000 copies of these guidebooks are printed, as shown in Table 5 and Figure 5.

Symposiums and Conferences:

King Saud University holds many conferences and scientific symposiums, and this reflects the university's interest in intellectual communication with scholars around the world. More than 60 symposiums have been held in the university, including the First Saudi Symposium for Academic Publishing, which is considered as a scientific reference due to the valuable papers (presented in this symposium) of academic publishing and its industry in and outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. There are other symposiums and conferences that are held annually by the university.

           Various forms:

           The Academic Publishing and Press releases the necessary forms for the university administrations such jackets, envelops, "Risalah", etc. Table 6 shows the number of these forms in a 2-year period.
